Wikipedia can really make me smart. When I browse Wikipedia, I feel that I have gained the access to infinite knowledge. The Internet is a tool that can really expand my view exponentially.
The most attractive feature is its free of charge. Because it is free, I don’t have to save my money to buy books. A book is a very limited content. And it is quite subjective. It is largely depending on the qualification of the author.
Comparing with its Chinese counterpart Baidu, it does extremely well. For Wikipedia provides much more authorised knowledge. And every statement and number has a reliable source.
Although Chinese Wikipedia is blocked in mainland China, we still can go to English Wikipedia. With the assistance of dictionary and Google translation, I can understand English articles. English articles are better than Chinese ones in terms of the content. And it familiarizes me with the knowledge that is more global, not only in my home country.
Some people may challenge that Wikipedia may cause harm to our eyesight. Well, I don’t think that is a problem. Everything related with computer has the similar eye damage. The important way is that we should find a way to protect our eyes when using computers. For instance, we should cover an eye-protecting transparent film on the screen.
Here I want to express my sincere gratitude to the founders of Wikipedia. You opened a door to the outside world to me, and you make my life much more meaningful.
